Automated ebb-and-flow subirrigation accelerates citrus liner production in treepots

Over the past decade, citrus production has sharply decreased in Florida because of greening or Huanglongbing (HLB), a disease that reduces fruit yield and quality eventually kills trees. With increased mortality need to resetting trees, demand for healthy trees from nurseries risen drastically last few years. To meet accelerate tree growth, nursery industry should use modern horticultural practices such as more efficient irrigation methods, fertigation, vigorous rootstocks. This study evaluated effect subirrigation systems time, water fertilizer inputs, plant growth commercial rootstocks cultivated treepots. We tested five methods [three ebb-and-flow triggered at specific volumetric contents (θ, 0.24, 0.36, 0.48 m3 m−3), capillary mats, conventional drip system], six (Kuharske, UFR-2, UFR-16, US-802, US-812, X-639). The experiment was arranged split-plot design, with main plot consisting sub-plots different Ebb-and-flow benches conserved 98% than irrigation. Rootstocks grown under reached adequate stem diameter grafting four weeks before Pummelo hybrids used this (UFR-16, US-802) were 55% taller, 24% thicker, 150% heavier on biomass other varieties tested, irrespective method utilized.
